Self-concept P3: Reprogram yourself, what you need to do

What?

For this process to work, you need to build a few core skills:

  • Inner work: Understanding yourself. Turn inward and talk to yourself the way you would talk to a soulmate, with gentleness, love and support. You can start by getting familiar with the skill of Inner Work.
  • Recognizing emotions: Learn to observe and name your emotions. Notice what you feel, especially in situations that trigger the "ugly" ones: anger, insecurity, restlessness, fear… Ask yourself often: "How am I feeling right now, what emotions are here, and what event or person triggered them?" Trace them back to past experiences to find the root cause: close your eyes, take 4 deep breaths, and watch the images that come up in your mind.
  • Practicing gratitude: Keep a positive mindset.
  • Being open to lessons: Accept the lessons that come to you, good and bad alike. Don't run from them or resist them, because they are the door to your next level of potential.
  • Focusing on depth: "Go deep not broad." Pick the single most essential lesson and work on it for a set period of time.

This inner work process can be applied to any area of life: love, family, career, money…

Reprogram yourself: shift to a new reality

Step 1: Identify

Choose one issue you most want to resolve right now. Write down your old reality around it (results, beliefs, thoughts, emotions and actions).

Step 2: Break the old loop

  1. Beliefs

Identify the fears that live in you.

Trace these fears back to their origin or cause.

Practice accepting and letting go, then replace them with new beliefs.

Identify your limiting beliefs and ask where they come from: whose influence, which past experience?

    - E.g. "I have to have X to get Y" may come from a typical role model you once met

Release these fears and limiting beliefs: if I let go of these beliefs, what do I gain and what do I lose? If you lose nothing, why are you still holding on to them?

    - E.g. Without X, is there another way to get Y?

Look for evidence to the contrary to test this belief

    - E.g. There are people who do make money from their talents and interests
  2. Thoughts

Notice the stray thoughts, memories and daydreams about the past and the future, and so on, then clear them out

Learn to recognize your inner voice, the streams of thought that come from high energy (which help you grow) and from low energy (which hold you back)

Listen to the voice of your future self (higher self), your heart and your intuition (the thoughts that flow through your mind).

This is the process of reconnecting with yourself, your intuition and your heart. Build healthy habits, or find tools that can support you along the way.
  3. Emotions

This one is for those who have always tried to "act cool" and hold their emotions in. I feel you. The first time you try to recognize your emotions, you may feel nothing at all, or just empty. That's because for a long time you haven't tended the garden of your inner life. Be patient and build the connection with your heart step by step, the way you would get to know someone you love.

Identify what triggers your emotions, and look for how it connects to your past experiences.

Practice stepping back to observe and name your emotions, and do it often. Keep asking: how am I feeling right now?
  4. Actions

Set boundaries (in life, work and relationships).

    Build healthy habits.

Decide which areas you want to grow in and invest your time there.
  5. Results

What does this result mean to you?

How will this result shape your next belief?

Does this result truly come from what your heart wants, or is it just your ego trying to prove something? Is it really worth it?

Step 3: Set up a new reality loop

Once you have worked through the blockages inside, come back and set up a new reality loop. Personal growth works like a coiled spring: you meet old lessons again, but each time on a higher turn of the coil. As you "graduate" from each lesson, you keep moving up and shaping a better version of yourself.

This journey changes more than one corner of your life. It changes the whole way you see and live it.
